About this site
Sports Guide answers one question: what sport is on television in Ireland, and on which channel. Irish viewers have a genuinely different schedule to the UK. The Saturday 3pm Premier League blackout does not apply here, GAA coverage splits between RTÉ, TG4 and GAA+, and League of Ireland games move between RTÉ and LOITV week to week. Sites built for a UK audience get all of that wrong.
There are no ads, no cookie banner and no tracking, because the site sets no cookies at all. It is fast for the same reason: every page is plain HTML generated ahead of time, and the only JavaScript on the site is the small script behind the filter buttons.
Where the data comes from
Fixtures are gathered from published schedules: official competition fixture lists, the GAA's own fixtures feed, League of Ireland listings and the UEFA match schedule. Which channel is showing what comes from the electronic programme guide, matched against those fixtures automatically, then corrected by hand where a broadcaster has announced something the guide does not reflect yet.
A listing shown with a dashed outline is one the automatic matching is not fully confident about. It is displayed rather than hidden, but treat it as provisional until it firms up.
How often it updates
The fixture list refreshes daily and the broadcast schedule hourly. Each refresh rebuilds the site, so what you are reading is at most about an hour behind the guide.
Getting it wrong
Broadcast schedules change, sometimes hours before kick-off. Always check with the broadcaster before paying for a match pass. If you spot a listing that is wrong, tell us at contact@sportsguide.ie and it will be corrected by hand, which also teaches the automatic matching not to repeat it.
